Anonymous whistleblowing on remote oil and gas sites
On a platform or a remote site the crew is small. Everyone knows who was on shift. That is the reason people give for staying quiet, so the channel has to hold up under it.
WeMoral takes the report on a public page with no login. No account, no email address, no phone number. We do not log IP addresses. We strip the metadata from photos and files as they upload. So a picture of a gauge does not carry the time, the device and the place with it.
The reporter gets a private access code instead. They come back to the same page with it, read your questions and reply. They stay unnamed the whole way through.
Whistleblower protection for contractors in the energy sector
Oil, gas and energy work runs on contractors. Drilling, repairs, checks, catering and transport are usually other firms. Joint venture partners bring their own people too.
The law covers all of them. Contractors, agency crew, suppliers, trainees and job seekers get the same protection as your own staff. A channel that only your payroll can open leaves most of a site out.
The WeMoral reporting page is public. Anyone with the link or the QR code opens it on their own phone, in any of 103 languages. No account, and no company email address.
- Employees, on payroll and on loan
- Contractors and subcontractors on every site
- Agency and rotational workers
- Joint venture partners and their own staff
- Suppliers, transport and service firms
- Former workers, and people who applied for a job
What a whistleblowing policy covers in oil, gas and energy
Oil and gas is the biggest part of this. The same channel covers the rest of an energy group. Here is what tends to arrive from each.
Oil and gas production
Upstream sites are a long way from head office and very close to government offices.
- Test or output data that does not match the readings
- Payments or gifts around a licence, a permit or a customs clearance
- Pressure to keep working when a certificate has run out
Refining and petrochemicals
A refinery runs to a turnaround schedule, and that pressure shows up in the reports.
- Maintenance or a check signed off but never done
- Discharge, flaring or air quality figures changed before they are filed
- Contractor invoices for work nobody can trace
Power, grid and utilities
Network operators hold public money and public trust at the same time.
- Procurement steered towards a chosen supplier
- Meter, billing or connection records changed by hand
- Outage figures sent to the regulator that do not match the logs
Renewables and hydrogen
New projects move fast and lean hard on subcontractors.
- Land, permit or grid connection payments nobody will explain
- Parts origin or carbon figures that nobody can back up
- Site safety cut short to hold a start-up date
Whistleblowing deadlines when crews work on rotation
The law gives you seven days to confirm a report arrived. You then have three months to say what came of it. Someone who files on day two of a rotation may be out of touch for weeks.
So the case cannot wait for them. WeMoral keeps the thread on the report page. The person signs back in with the code they were given, from any device, whenever they are back in range.
From a phone in the crew room, in any of 103 languages. No account and no email address.
The confirmation waits on the report page. It does not need the person to be online.
Your handler asks questions in the thread and reads the answers whenever they arrive. Every read and write is logged.
The person reads it on the same page, at home or back on shift.
What our customers say
We had our reporting page live in 5 minutes. The reporting form was already translated into the 6 languages we needed, so our subsidiaries in France, Spain and Germany had a working channel before the legal deadline hit.
HR Director · Manufacturing · 1,200 employees
The case dashboard organized all our work. Every report, every message, every attachment in one encrypted timeline. Our team stopped juggling spreadsheets and started closing cases twice as fast.
Compliance Manager · Financial Services
Reporters get a private access code after submitting, and they can check back for updates without revealing who they are. That two-way anonymous channel was the feature that sold our board on the switch.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can open the case panel?
Up to five on the PRO plan. Most groups start with one lead from compliance, one from HR and one from legal, then add a site manager. Every action each of them takes is logged.
Do contractors have to be able to use it?
Yes. your national whistleblowing law comes from the EU Whistleblower Directive (2019/1937), and it protects more than your own staff. Contractors, agency crew, suppliers and job seekers are all covered. The simplest way to reach them is a public page that anyone with the link can open.
Can a report be filed from a site with no signal?
The report itself needs a signal, so most crews file from the crew room, the camp, or once they are ashore. The wait does not need a signal. The case sits on its own page, and the person picks it up again when they are back in range.
Where is the case data held?
In Frankfurt, Germany. The data stays in the EU. It is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not log IP addresses. We strip metadata from uploads. Every read and every write goes into an audit log you can export.
What does it cost to cover several sites?
One PRO plan covers the whole company, every site included. It is €79 a month net when the year is paid up front. Reports are not capped, and five people can work in the panel. The first 30 days cost nothing.
